So I decided to have a fun trip to see an exhibition on my own at the Wellcome Centre!
Wellcome collection is a free visitor destination for the incurably curious. Located at 183 Euston Road, London, it explores the connections between medicine, life and art in the past, present and future. The venue offers visitors contemporary and historic exhibitions and collections, lively public events, the world renowned Wellcome library, a cafe, a bookshop and conference facilities.
John Isaacs "I can't help the way I feel" 2003.
"Visually, the way in which the flesh grows, erupts, and engulfs the body can be seen as a metaphor of the way in which we become incapacitated by the emotional landscape in which we live and over which we have little control."-John Isaacs
Wow, to me it's a weird display which I stared at for quite a long time.
This picture shows you the procedure of a Gastric Bypass Surgery. Also the portion sizes which can be consumed once you have a Gastric band placed inside you.
This is the library of The Human Genome.
These volumes contains an almost complete copy of the human genetic sequence. The letters represent the four chemical building blocks of DNA that make up the 'recipe' to build and operate a person. Brainy stuff! I had a look inside cannot understand a thing, this is cool stuffz..

ReplyDeleteHi Nadejah, Thanks for the great post! I am working on a writing project on John Isaacs, and I was hoping to use one of your photographs in it (fully credited to you, of course). What is the best way to contact you to discuss getting your permission? If you don't want to post your details, you can email me at chelsea.nichols@gmail.com. Thanks! Cheers, Chelsea
